I joined my middle school surf team.
In my 7th grade year, I was the 2nd overall in Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay counties for men's longboard. In 8th grade, I was 1st. As a Freshman in high school against all freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, I placed 5th overall. The other finalists were all seniors.
I will working with the new CSSL and possibly the NSSA. I hope I can also make it to the NSSA championships down in So-Cal.
In shoartboard when I got comfortable with big waves. I was only 14 and I was out at Middle Peak Steamer's Lane, Santa Cruz. It was about 16 feet, thick, and high tidish. As I was floating to the top of a wave, it was so big that it blocked out the sun! When I was at the top, I saw the next wave and jolted towards the cliff to get around the left. It was about a 20 foot wave, 4 feet thick and dredging out on the left. It broke 2 yards in front of me and I pitched my board a to swim under. When I came out behind the wave, trying to get my bearings straight, my dad asked if I was all right. I was physically, but mentally, that rung my bell quite a bit.
